what to do in pau when you are dead

another weekend has come and gone. this time i spent it in san sebastian, spain. the cool kids and i left friday afternoon and arrived in san sebastian a few hours later. when we got off the train, only then did we realize that we were now in a country that did not speak english or french. lucky for us shelia and natasha both speak spanish. the rest of us were lost for most of the weekend when it came to doing anything with natives.

we hit the beach after checking into our hostals. the beach was a bit of a shock, as toplessness was a way of the beach. not everyone ran around topless, but enough to be noticed (and of course it was all the old spanish women, so yippie).

after the beach, we went and got some ice cream. there, the girls started flirting with the guy, which got us on to the vip list for some nighclub complex. he told us that if we got there before three, we would get a free drink. but do not get there before two becuase no one would be there. this would be two and three in the morning. remember, i am coming from a city that closes at 8pm. so we walked around for a while and then went back to our hostals. diner does not start until 10pm.

we met up for diner and then headed for the club at 2. we got there and it was just starting to get busy. we made our way to the bar with our free drink tickets and ordered. i saw that they had absolut vodka, but i did not know how to order it with cranberry juice, and no one knew the spanish name for cranberries, so i got my drink with orange juice. this drink was in a pint glass with half of it being vodka. i was happy, because i knew that dancing would be done and i don't dance.

we left the club after 4. went to bed and then did not get up til noon the next day. it rained saturday, so it was not a whole lot fun. we did go visit jc on the hill top.

the weather on sunday was better, so we spent the whole day on the beach before we headed back to pau.

one question that everyone kept asking the whole weekend was: "did we chose the right place to study." usac has a site in san sebastian, and after getting a little taste, i can see how different the two sites are. san sebastian being the place with a nightlife. i am hapy with pau. i do not think i would get much work done in spain.

as soon as i find an internet cafe with photoshop, i will put my pictures of france and spain that i have taken thus far on flickr.

Somebody needs to leave a comment. Do your Cool Kids or Dorm Kids know who is who in your definition? Glad to hear you got to San Sebastian, how about Bilbao next, heck... you know the trains and survived Spain last weekend.

Come on man... this is your time to not be you. Enjoy that nightlight, with that much vodka I don't see how you couldn't, find yourself a girl (french, spanish, american... I don't care) and relive the youth you missed out on. Yes you missed out. How long have you been a full time employee? How many years have you been the best student in college? Be the stereotypical college kid for once... even if it's only for a month. Things are going good here. Boge and I had our first day of our motocycle class. Good time, we both had a blast and are looking forward to tomorrow. Thursday we leave to KC for two weeks for some sailing and our conference. Other than that Luke and I got the floor put in on the new boat and we'll finish up the two benches Wed. Well bud, that's it for me... glad you got the commets working. Enjoy yourself and don't be a dick. Tommy
